Bosom Buddies Trust

Bosom Buddies Trust is a registered charity set up to raise awareness and dispel fear of radical breast surgery.

The formation of the charity was inspired by the personal experiences of two women who underwent mastectomies, one for preventative reasons, the other as a result of having had breast cancer.

By setting up the charity, we wish to demonstrate that women survive the surgery with their femininity and personal strength intact, emerging as empowered women.

The first project of the charity is the Bosom Buddies Trust Calendar 2008. It was shot by renowned celebrity photographer, Nicky Johnston, and features 12 women who have undergone the surgery.

All the money raised by the calendar will be donated to other cancer charities and organisations, chosen by the 12 women who appear in the calendar. The names of those charities can be found in The Charities We Support.

Through this website, BBT will provide support for women undergoing mastectomies, firstly through an online forum and, in time, through a network of volunteers who have been through the experience of the surgery.
